Si su debut despertó atención por la frescura y el riesgo, este nuevo álbum demuestra que la banda ha alcanzado un grado de madurez compositiva y conceptual notable.

El disco se articula en seis cortes que funcionan casi como movimientos de una misma obra. Desde la apertura con “Below the Surface”, donde guitarras limpias y atmósferas etéreas recuerdan a Carptree, no obstante en los teclados se encuentra un miembro del mismo, aquí suenan más introspectivos, hasta la extensa “Undercurrents”, que supera los 15 minutos, el grupo logra un equilibrio entre pasajes ambientales y estallidos de energía progresiva.

Musicalmente, Bakelit maneja con soltura la dinámica: riffs precisos, líneas de bajo que aportan cuerpo y una batería que oscila entre la contención y la contundencia. El uso de sintetizadores analógicos añade un carácter orgánico y retro, evocando tanto a los pioneros del prog sinfónico de los 70 como a la sensibilidad moderna de bandas como CarpTree o David Bowie.
